The Officer’s House, Rye Harbour, East Sussex

Discover the peace and tranquility of Rye Harbour, in this contemporary, secret coastal retreat.

The Officer’s House was the first house purchased by Sigrid Cragoe and her husband after having discovered the peace and tranquility of Rye Harbour. With a background as a Stylist on sets in Hollywood and an Interior Designer for luxury private homes in London, the Officer’s House was one of Sigrid’s biggest projects. It took two years of hard work to bring back the former billet of the Officer of the Dragoons stationed here, to a more contemporary version of its former self.

Comfortably the biggest house in the village, it sleeps 9 in unashamed luxury with a secret coastal garden and decking area for outdoor dining. The house also features lovely authentic details such as oak floors, an open fire in the drawing room, a separate dining room made for dinner parties and long lunches, and your own private drive.

Tucked away in Coastguards Square, the house is a minute’s walk from the river frontage, boat slip way, the village shop and (best) old school village pub. The entrance to the Nature Reserve and the path to the beach are only a 2-minute walk away. Take the afternoon off by exploring the many miles of paths and sand/shingle beach either by foot or by bike.

The house has been designed with its guests in mind, from those wanting to host families on weekends away, to groups of friends who want a relaxing escape from the city. It is spacious, luxurious, and we genuinely couldn’t make it any more comfortable if we tried.
