23.02.18 | Nathan

Who: Nathan with his wife & son Harry (4) (pictured below)
When: November 2017
Where: Ras-al Khaimah, UAE
Why: Winter-sun break to try somewhere new, not too far away

What attracted you to Ras-al Khaimah
I wanted to try somewhere different for a winter sun holiday, suitable for a family, away from the hustle & bustle of Dubai and a new area to explore.

What were you expecting and did it meet your expectations?
I love discovering new destinations and RAK brought back memories of a trip that I took to Oman over 10 years ago. I loved how you leave the metropolis of Dubai behind and end up driving through empty desert to reach your destination. There is lots of development planned, so this could change in the not too distant future so now is a great time to visit.

What is there to do?
I enjoyed a trip into the desert and an evening at a desert camp. I also visited the largest waterpark in the UAE and I would highly recommend a day exploring the Jabel Jais Mountain range which is spectacular and added an extra dimension to the trip.

What type of hotels are available?
I stayed in the luxurious Waldorf Astoria hotel, which was of a very good standard and had a great beachfront setting and lots of facilities. You can also stay in a luxury desert camp or a small luxury 32 room private villa complex each with their own swimming pool.

Will it develop as much as Dubai?
Maybe not as much, but you can already start to feel that there is plenty of investment and signs that other hotel companies are starting to purchase land, so I am sure that in the years to come it will develop and expand.
