La Dolce Vita Orient Express
A new luxury rail experience, La Dolce Vita Orient Express launches in spring 2025 with a range of one- and two-night itineraries throughout Italy. From its base in Rome, the train will visit destinations from Venice, Piedmont and Portofino in the north to Siena and the vineyards of Tuscany, and south to
Basilicata, Puglia and Sicily.
La Dolce Vita has been designed to evoke the Italian style of the 1950s and 1960s, with streamlined décor by Italian designers, including curved mirrors, metallic and lacquered surfaces and geometric prints. There are 31 en suite private cabins and suites on board, as well as a stylish dining car and sleek lounge bar with panoramic windows. We would be delighted to create a tailor-made itinerary which includes the journey of your choice, with flights (or travel by train) to Rome or Sicily, as well as private transfers and accommodation before and after your journey in one of our selected hotels. The first departures commence from April 2025, and are expected to sell out well in advance.
ACCOMMODATION & DINING ON–BOARD
Accommodation options on board the train include 12 Deluxe cabins with a convertible sofa bed, 18 Suite cabins with fixed double or twin beds and a living areas with armchairs, or the single La Dolce Vita Suite. All categories are air-conditioned and have modern en suite shower rooms. Breakfast and a table d’hôte dinner with menus inspired by three-Michelinstarred Chef Heinz Beck are served in the dining car and an Italian ‘aperitivo’ with antipasti, cocktails and drinks is served in the convivial atmosphere of the lounge bar. Lunches will be served on board the train or in local restaurants: from Tuscan trattorie to a unique cave restaurant in Matera. All meals and selected drinks are included, as well as excursions such as wine tasting in Brunello di Montalcino and truffle hunting in Piedmont as well as expert-guided tours of Palermo, Siena and Venice.
Most journeys are round-trip routes from Rome, and there are a smaller number of departures which travel the southern tip of the peninsula from Rome to Palermo in Sicily or vice versa, as well as a Sicilian loop from Catania, which takes in the highlights of the island. A further journey to the Piedmont region is coming soon.
