Crete

Crete, Greece’s biggest island, captivates visitors with stunning landscapes, deep-rooted heritage, and exceptional local food. Nathan recently explored this remarkable destination with his family and fell in love with everything it offered.

The western region showcases traditional Cretan life at its finest. Chania’s old harbour features colourful waterfront buildings and narrow lanes packed with outstanding dining spots. Adventure seekers flock to hike the impressive Samaria Gorge, while Elafonisi and Falasarna boast spectacular sandy shores.

Eastern Crete offers its own appeal. Elounda maintains an authentic, relaxed atmosphere with its pleasant harbour-side shops and eateries. Nearby Agios Nikolaos sits beautifully along Mirabello Bay, with boats running to the historic Spinalonga island fortress. History enthusiasts can delve into ancient Minoan civilization at Heraklion’s archaeological sites and Knossos palace, while the surrounding vineyards craft the majority of Crete’s increasingly acclaimed wines.
