Patina Maldives, Fari Islands

Patina Maldives is part of the brand new Fari Islands archipelago in North Malé Atoll and is the debut offering from Patina Hotels & Resorts, a new elevated lifestyle brand by the much-loved Capella Hotel Group.

A far cry from your typical Maldivian luxury resort, Patina Maldives has been created with a new generation of socially and environmentally conscious travellers in mind. Make no mistake, this is still the height of luxury, but a progressive form of luxury that shows a deep appreciation for culture, the environment and giving back to the community.

Renewable materials have been used throughout. Water is preserved, filtered and recycled. Power is harvested from the sun. You won’t find a trace of single-use plastic. Plant and coral life is all passionately protected. And an entire other island has been developed for the staff, dedicated to education and community development.

The resort has been designed by renowned Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan (of Studio MK27 fame) and seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor spaces, giving nature centre stage. At its heart are Fari Marina Village and Fari Beach Club, where guests will find retail outlets, art galleries, an on-site sound studio for visiting musicians and DJs in residence, plus 12 different culinary offerings, including plant-based meals at Roots, Japanese and Nordic fusion at Kōen, a Patagonian grill at Brasa, and Asian classics coupled with craft beer at the Wok Society.

Accommodation comprises 90 contemporary one- to three-bedroom villas, each either on the beach or over the impossibly azure ocean. All have floor-to-ceiling windows, private pools and earthy colour palettes. There are also 20 Fari Studios dotted along the edge of Fari Marina Village.

A state-of-the-art spa offers everything from sleep therapy and bio hacking to the practice of Watsu, a form of aquatic bodywork used for deep relaxation. More traditional activities are of course on offer too, including world-class diving on the stunning house reef, but it’s the touch of the extraordinary that Patina will be remembered for.
