Nathan’s first Family Cruise
25.04.23 | NathanAfter researching where to take the family for Easter, it quickly became apparent the opportunities, adventure and value a cruise would offer us. We decided to head west to Miami and onwards to visit Key West, Belize, Mexico and the Cayman Islands.
Needless to say, we were all excited and eagerly awaiting this new type of holiday experience and I am pleased to say it lived up to our expectations!
Our trip started in Miami where we stayed at the Loews South Beach for 4 days to unwind. We enjoyed a few days on the beach, explored the city, along with a day in the Everglades National Park looking for alligators.
We then stepped onboard Celebrity Apex for a one week cruise. As with any family holiday, trying to find the right balance to keep Mum, Dad & the kids happy is always at the forefront of my thoughts, so I chose Celebrity and their new Edge ship series, as I very much hoped that this would deliver what I was looking for.
As soon as we stepped onboard it soon became apparent that this was the right choice. Due to the holiday period, there were plenty of other families on the ship too. Celebrity did a great job to keep them entertained whilst at the same time offered a refined 5 star service level that kept us parents with smiles on our faces.
I selected this specific itinerary because it visited areas none of us had seen before and I think this is where cruises come into their own, helping you discover new places. I saw it as an opportunity to see destinations I wouldn’t normally think of, and it worked perfectly.
The highlights included exploring the temples in Belize and seeing the stunning beaches of the Cayman Islands for the first time. These are definitely up there with the best Caribbean beaches I have ever seen.
I appreciate cruises may not appeal to everyone; however we have seen a real increase in interest from first-timers seeking to give it a try and with an interesting itinerary, discovering new countries and experiences this way totally makes sense to me.
One thing is for certain, the boys loved it and now they are planning their next adventure!
