

New flight routes
20.01.25 | SamWe are pleased to see some interesting new flights and holiday opportunities on offer from around the UK. Here is our quick summary; from Palermo in Sicily to the smaller islands of Poros, Aegina and Leros, accessed via Athens.
In response to strong demand for Greek holidays, you can now access the stunning islands of Poros, Aegina and Leros via direct flights to Athens or Kos from Birmingham and then a connecting ferry services. With lush greenery, inviting beaches, charming towns and bundles of history, these idyllic islands have all the ingredients for a memorable Greek getaway.
Birmingham also welcomes new flights next year to Palermo, departing every Wednesday between 6th May and 28th October 2026. Located in the North west of the island, this gives you the chance to enjoy Palermo’s fascinating history and Sicilian food & culture as well as the resorts of Campofelice Di Roccella, Cefalu and Pollinia.
You can use the Palermo flight to fly into the North West, then travel along the North coast by rail as Oliver did, or drive through the centre to finish in the East, in the resort of Taormina near Mt Etna. From there you can then fly home from Catania direct to a range of airports across the UK including Birmingham. These two direct flights offer more flexibility to see the island and will no doubt be popular for 2026. (The Catania flight is already in operation for 2025).
A new flight to Bordeaux from Birmingham is scheduled to take off on 1st May 2025, with the choice of flying on Thursdays and Sundays throughout summer perfect for a long weekend in the world capital of wine. A destination steeped in history and known for its wildlife and water sports, flights to Gibraltar will launch on 1st June 2025 and operate year round on Thursdays and Sundays.
Manchester welcomes a new direct flight to Cairo from 15th July whilst Virgin Atlantic will commence their new Las Vegas service on 2nd June of this year.
