Sicily, Sardinia and Corsica Grand Tour
This tour is the perfect way to experience not only Sardinia, but also the two other beautiful Mediterranean islands of Corsica and Sicily. Corsica is 8 miles north of Sardinia accessed by a 50 minute ferry journey and Sicily can be reached by a short flight or longer ferry crossing. Below is a suggested itinerary but we can create bespoke tours to suit all tastes, budgets and durations.
Itinerary
Days 1 to 4: Sicily
Fly from the UK to Catania on the east coast of Sicily for 4 nights B&B at the 4 star Hotel Monte Tauro set into the cliffside in Taormina enjoying uninterrupted sea views spanning the Bay of Naxos to Mount Etna.
The beautiful island of Sicily remains distinctive in both its history and culture despite its close proximity to the Italian mainland, offering even seasoned travellers a unique and memorable taste of the Mediterranean. From historical attractions to picturesque beaches, local delicacies to family friendly dining, the island of Sicily is able to accommodate all ages and preferences. We recommend visits to town of Taormina, Syracuse and the UNESCO World Heritage site at Modica. Further information about Sicily can be found here.
Days 5 – 9: Sardinia
Fly from Catania (Sicily) to Olbia in the north east of Sardinia for 5 nights B&B at the 4 star Hotel Gabbiano Azzurro, a great family run hotel with a stunning beach location, friendly service, excellent restaurant, and panoramic views and sunsets.
Sardinia has something for everyone from the stunning Costa Smeralda, with breathtaking scenery and exclusive hotels, to the unspoilt south coast with many deserted beaches and Caribbean-like turquoise sea. Wherever you are on the island, there will be a stunning coastline with beautiful bays and beaches, towns and villages, a mountainous interior with wonderful views of the island, refreshing lakes and waterfalls, and a fascinating history. For example, there are around 7,000 ‘Nuraghi’ (mysterious stone dwellings dating back 3,500 years) throughout the island as a permanent reminder of its prehistoric occupation, as well as numerous examples of Roman architecture as a catalogue of their dominance. Further information about Sardinia can be found here.
Day 10 – 15: Corsica
You will travel to Santa Teresa port in Sardinia (66km) and take the ferry to Bonifacio in Corsica. On arrival you will pick up a hire car and drive to the 4 star Hotel Cala di Greco for 5 night B&B, enjoying views across the swimming pool to Bonifacio and Sardinia.
Despite its close proximity to France and Italy, the beautiful island of Corsica remains distinctive in both its history and culture, offering travellers a unique and memorable taste of the Mediterranean. Known as ‘L’Île de Beauté’ (the Island of Beauty) by the French, with its sensational bays of warm, transparent waters, edged with golden-white sand and magnificent mountains. While exploring the island you will see villages perched on steep hillsides with an unique mix of Baroque, Pisan and Genoese churches, rugged mountains standing high above and lush green countryside leading down to the sea, combine to make Corsica a charming, untainted and effortlessly beautiful holiday destination.
