Canada’s largest city is one the most multicultural diverse cities in the world with over 140 languages spoken. Toronto offers tourists a vibrant and exciting experience and one in which you’re unlikely to forget.
A good place to start your exploration of Toronto is the CN Tower. It may no longer be the tallest building in the world, thanks to Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, but it provides visitors with the best views of the city. If you are feeling daring why not try one of Toronto’s newest attractions: ‘Edgewalk’, where you can take a walk around the circumference of the roof! At 356m it is a real adrenalin thrill.
For an authentic lunch experience why not head to St Lawrence Market. At 200 years old it is one of the world’s great markets and a snacker’s paradise.
In the afternoon go underground to explore PATH, Toronto’s underground walkway. It is the world’s largest underground shopping complex linking 30 kilometres of shopping, services and entertainment providing comfort from the elements that Toronto can experience.
After trapesing the shops why not reward yourself with a pint in one of the many distilleries found in Toronto. The distilleries provide visitors with the opportunity to tour around the brewery’s to see how the beer is made or for those who would rather sample in their own time, you can just sit and soak in the atmosphere in the bar areas.
For those who enjoy their sports, and even for those that don’t, no visit to Canada is complete without sampling their national sport: ice hockey. Take in a Toronto Maple Leaf’s game which draws in the crowds and is sure to provide you with an exhilarating experience.
Although a 90 minute drive away, Niagara Falls is not to be missed and what a way to start your second day! With almost 750,000 gallons of water falling over the cliffs each second it is no wonder it is one of the natural wonders of the world. Take the ‘Journey Behind the Falls’ walk to experience the sheer force of the waterfall or for those feeling adventurous take a helicopter ride for an aerial view.
In the afternoon take a wonder through the natural historic site of Kensington Market. This vibrant area offers a maze of narrow streets and alleyways aligned with vintage shops and cafes, a great way to spend an afternoon.
Or why not visit Casa Loma, a castle in the middle of the city. This beautiful castle built in 1937 took three years to build and cost over $3 million but it has not lost any of its majestic charm.
After a busy day take the time to relax and enjoy Toronto’s vibrant atmosphere in one of its many bars and restaurants. About half of the people the live in Toronto weren’t born in Canada which provides you with the opportunity to try the vast array of cuisine in the city.
