48 hours in Vancouver

Vancouver is a city that is easily explored on foot, so grab those shoes and get walking!

Vancouver, like many Canadian and US cities, is generally located in a grid, so getting your bearings is relatively easy. If your hotel is located on the harbour then many of the attractions the city has to offer are on your doorstep.

First, there is Canada Place, which is one of the iconic features of the city. Here is where you will find the FlyOver Canada, which is the amazing virtual flight ride providing you with an overview of what Canada has to offer. From here you can have a walk around the harbour with its beautiful views, particularly in autumn when the leaves are changing.

After a leisurely morning why not then head for the majestic North Shore Mountains where you will find Capilano Suspension Bridge Park? This is one of Vancouver’s most popular attractions where you can ascend high into the trees or go across the suspension bridge itself, which stretches 450 feet (137m) across and 230 feet (70m) above the Capilano River.

After the exhilaration of the bridge, why not then head to Stanley Park where you can enjoy lunch in beautiful surroundings?

From here, Vancouver Aquarium is only a short stroll away, where you can get up close and personal to sea life that surrounds Canada. It is essentially a conservation centre that houses sick and injured marine life and educates visitors.

For dinner tonight, why not try one of the local brewery houses in Yaletown, where food is delicious and plentiful?

The best way to start your second day in Vancouver is to enjoy breakfast overlooking the harbour. From here, take a short ride to Granville Island which is an eclectic mix of modern and quirky. Here you can partake in a Foodie Tour which takes you on a journey around the markets, tasting delicious food and drink from around the British Colombia area. Take some time to explore the island and the markets themselves, and enjoy the quirky street entertainment which is in abundance.

After your belly is full, head on back to Vancouver via the waterways and explore the popular areas of Yaletown, Gastown and Chinatown, where you will see the contrast of neighbourhoods between each area.

Before heading back to your hotel to get ready for the evening, why not board a seaplane and see the city from a completely different angle? This is excellent for photo opportunities!

For dinner tonight, enjoy the buzz and colour of Gastown, where both locals and tourist congregate.

48 hours provides an insight into what Vancouver has to offer, however we would recommend a minimum of 72 hours in order to truly explore and experience Vancouver and everything it has to make your visit truly memorable.
